If you haven't received your March 2009 issue of Vogue, Michelle Obama has graced the cover of this issue with such ease. Interview by Andre Leon Talley whom is the editor at large with Vogue, they discuss about Mrs. Obamas fashion sense as well as her transition into the White House. As much as the Obamas enforce humility I would have much rather appreciated a more classic photo shoot, maybe more of a day in the life kind of feel. As busy as she is with being hands on in her children s life as well as the her husbands we could have gotten a bit more. None the less she looked effortless wearing her beloved J.crew (which is my place of work),and has become a staple for all J.crew shoppers.

I had to post this because the saying never dies, "no dream is ever too high". New addition to the Elite Modeling agency Deaondra Forrest has been a new breath of fresh air. This soft spoken sweetheart who I am proud to say I know personally has been aspiring her dream to be model. She is 19 years young, African-American and has achieved what many attempt. I hope to see much more of her in the fashion industry because she truly deserves it. Good Luck Lady

Not many are familiar with the look "Rockabilly" but i would describe it as a cross between James Dean and Vintage Rock. When i saw these shoes that is all that came to mind. I adored how this student dressed down such as jazzy shoe, avoiding a very costumeish appearance. But if you are into that Rockabilly look, these shoes should be right up your alley.

I have been trailing this young woman's fashion sense since my first issue of teen vogue in the 9th grade. Zoe Kravitz is a pint size beauty who's keen fashion sense has been somewhat over looked. Time and time again we see the Olsen Twins, Kate Moss, and Mischa Barton, but what about ZOE! Her main look could be described as somewhat of a new aged hippie, but vast wardrobe transcends that. She can dabble into almost anything, I just wish we can see so much more of her. But can we expect anything less from the cross of Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz.

I missed the Grammy's because I can't multitask, catching up on school work and watching T.V. simultaneously doesn't add up for me. But the next morning she seemed to be the belle of the ball. Talk about bringing the 70's back. I loved the contract between simplicity and glamor with this students look. The 70's is an era that I have continued to fall in love with. The fine tailoring, exaggerated glamor and volume have always made dressing fun along with given women a great deal of simple sex-appeal.

For the past month I have anticipated making my way towards MoMa (Museum of Modern Art) hoping to just see what all the hype is about. The little field trip was at first intended for a small group of friends, but trickled down to Kenya and I, which even worked out for the better. We slowly realized art is greater appreciated when it is more intimate. We operated backwards and worked our way from top floor to the bottom and wound up killing the whole experience. The best exhibit was on the top floor by the artist Marlene Dumas from South Africa, all others that came after couldn't even compete. Everything else sort of looked like my history book threw up in it,MoMa is defiantly overrated but it was a nice experience none the less. I got a few photos of some of the exhibits, but wasn't allowed to get any shots of the work of Ms. Dumas, BUMMER.

A small Ode to myself.

GFC New York...Presents "The Black Apple"

Due to the late start of my little project I am going to rewind time just a bit for you all. Winter break has just let up and now I have dragged myself back to the daily monotony of lectures and cliche college life. "BLAH!" Moving further into the semester and facing this discouraging weather its just making me reflect on many of the highlights of the too short recess. Right Before school went back into full swing my cousin Kenya and I attended "The Black Apple" presented by GFC New York that took place at legendary and soulful S.O.B's . Taking place there were performances by the new voices and new attitudes of New York music and style. Mickey Factz who was the main attraction of the night has only began his music career 2 years after leaving NYU law school,and has generated a large fan base during the short amount of time. The second anticipated performer and my own personal reason for coming out was to see Theophilus London who is a Brooklyn native and new comer on the scene. He is known for his energetic performances and 80s electro space age soul sound that will defiantly make your feet tap. CurT@!n$ (which is how they spell their name) were special guest performers for the evening. That night was my first time hearing of them, and I wish them the best,but their performance didn't leave me wanting more.
However Thophilus London defiantly set the tone for the night which was expected after being introduced as the new Micheal Jackson. It was jam packed with energy that got the crowd moving with him, and most of all it was just good music.
The night ended pretty early,we only stuck around for the performances and I only took a few pics because I ended up having one drinks too many(shame on me), but all in all had a good time with good people and great sounds.

The "Cirque" Begins!

Alas!.

Finally I have broken out of my lazy slump, and am beginning weeks worth of shameful procrastination of sharing me with you all. After careful thinking I have decided to take a dive into this new branch of media and worldwide communication titled blogging. Cirque, is what i have appropriately titled my blog, which translates into circus, and is exactly how i can express all of me in one word. At 19 years of age my mind and eyes are being flooded with new information, new ideas, sights, and sounds daily which I am eager to share. I am an eclectic and intelligent Nigerian- American given the name Olujemibayo Agunloye which means God with this child bring joy, but you all may all call me Jem, Jemi, of J for short. Here and now I am at the point in my life where I am faced with many crossroads; not a child yet not quite an adult (although my fake id proves otherwise ;). My prime objective is to give you all my first love which is fashion. I am not proclaiming to be the best dressed or have even seen all there is to see in this worldwide industry. However I am making the steps to create a path towards what I intend my future to hold. Currently I am a college student, part-time worker, shopaholic, Blackberry addict, and a sucker for a great cocktail. I hope to one day become a marketing director of a clothing company and share my ideas and visions with the world. Along with fashion, the subtitles under my first love include photography (which is my premature hobby), Music...especially neo-soul and ol' school rap, ill only give two because i have a laundry list of music tastes. Another is culture which wraps up how i live my life on a daily basis. I find culture in art, information, curiosity, food, and in the new and old. Cirque is not only going to be a solo show about me, but it will be an outlet for young ambitious people looking to be seen and heard as well. I will use this as an opportunity to share with you my friends..family..and new comers in my life looking to make steps towards a better tomorrow. Welcome to the circus of my life....welcome to my Cirque.
